real utopia

How do we want to live in 2045?

A journey into the world of tomorrown

If you take a look at the current topics of the future, it quickly becomes apparent that inspiring and motivating contributions are often in short supply. Whether on television, in newspapers or at political events - the discussion about the future is usually conducted in an abstract technical language. It's about emission curves, CO2 prices or technological innovations as a solution to all problems. Alternatively, dystopian images are drawn of the consequences of climate change and species extinction. These arouse fear and uncertainty in many people, just like the other side, who warns of high heating costs and economic disadvantages. No wonder that many people feel helpless and without prospects and would prefer to avoid the topic completely. The message could just as well be: We have the chance to live better and more sustainably - if we act now.

It's time to put the focus on inspiring visions of the future that encourage us and show us the positive changes we can achieve. Because a vision of a better future that inspires and motivates us can help us to act together and decisively. We need a future narrative that shows us that it is possible to solve the problems of our time and that together we can live in a better world. A vision that inspires us and shows us how we can shape a sustainable and fair future with creativity, solidarity and commitment. It is time to fill the discussion about the future with positive and inspiring messages and set off towards a better future.

Development of real utopias and conception

The task is to take a current photograph of a city as a starting point and to develop a concept of what the depicted place could look like in the year 2045.

Basic determination and photo adjustment based on the actual recording

The first step is to record the current status. For this we analyze the current situation by collecting as much information as possible about the place. We research geodatabases, use satellite images, look at photos and analyze texts about the location or existing structures. By viewing the given photo, we receive information about the type of camera, the location, the time and the position of the sun. All this data is brought together in a virtual model of the place. In this way we create a copy of the original recording in an artificial, three-dimensional environment. Each element that we create in our 3d software in the following process interacts in terms of light, shadow, reflection and size in a similar way to when it was recorded.

Conception of the real utopia for the specific place

In a second step, we develop a joint whiteboard in cooperation with our partners and clients. Various reflections in the form of sketches and reference material on the topics of energy,
Transport, social affairs, as well as urban planning and architecture are collected and linked specifically to the site at hand. In an ongoing discussion, it is determined which aspects should make up the place in the year 2045.

Development and fine-tuning of the virtual future model

In the following step, we transfer these approaches to our model as rough volumes and check them for true-to-scale and plausibility. Urban relationships and conditions are optimized to form a functioning and logical system. At the same time, we carry out targeted research to find suitable building typologies, façade systems, green spaces and the like. All of these references are checked, evaluated and combined into viable concepts in our model. By compiling the various factors, the model is refined over time to form a first coherent concept that combines all aspects. This model can then be calculated and integrated into the original image. At the end there is a first draft of a real utopia, which is further specified and detailed through direct exchange with our partners.
