A lively coexistence of residential and commercial
The new quarter will be built on the property of Bietigheimer Wohnbau GmbH and part of the neighboring property owned by EnBW. With a total of 140 planned apartments, Bietigheimer Wohnbau GmbH wants to create living space that is suitable for different types of housing. At the same time, the ground floors are to be used for commercial purposes. This project will be an exciting test of how living in an industrial environment can work.
The connection between city and river
An outstanding feature of the quarter is its direct location on the Neckar. The project strives to create a connection between the city and the river. This will allow residents to benefit from being right on the Neckar and to enjoy the natural beauty of the river. In addition, the quarter will develop valuable architectural solutions to design this connection in an aesthetic way.
Preservation of the historic power plant
Another highlight of the area is a historic power plant with an adjacent building, which is a listed building. This power plant, in which electricity has been generated for over 100 years, is still operated by EnBW for local energy generation. The preservation of this historic building is an important concern of the project and underlines the effort to combine modern architecture and historical values.
The project to develop an urban, creative quarter on the Neckar in Untertürkeim promises a fascinating combination of living and business in an environment characterized by industry. With the aim of connecting the city and the river, new opportunities for places to stay are created directly on the Neckar. At the same time, the historic power plant will be preserved and will continue to be used to generate energy. This project shows how innovative urban planning concepts and the preservation of monuments can go hand in hand to create a lively and sustainable environment.
