Aachen-Burtscheid Fire Station
Lorber Paul Architects, LLC
For the new construction of the Aachen-Burtscheid Fire and Rescue Station, the Lorber Paul architectural firm developed a functionally well-structured facility that precisely meets the complex requirements of a modern emergency response center. The design organizes the vehicle bay, functional areas, and break rooms into a compact and logically structured layout.
The architecture follows a robust and minimalist design language that underscores the building’s technical purpose. Spacious hall areas allow for the efficient organization of emergency vehicles, while the upper levels are clearly divided and provide spaces for administration, rest, and recreation. The vertical and horizontal layout ensures short distances and supports rapid response procedures during emergencies.
Particular attention is paid to the functional separation and simultaneous interconnection of the various areas. Visual connections and clear circulation axes ensure orientation and contribute to efficient use in everyday operations.
The visualizations depict both the building’s exterior appearance and the spatial quality of the vehicle hall. They convey the functional processes and the atmosphere of the interior spaces, making the organization of the station and the interplay between architecture and use comprehensible.
