Design concept
The design for the new extension to the Breitfeld elementary school addresses the needs of modern educational architecture by creating flexible, bright and open learning spaces that offer pupils an inspiring learning environment. "Emil Grünbär" stands as a guiding figure for the careful treatment of nature, which is reflected in the use of sustainable materials and an ecologically oriented construction method. The building is designed to integrate harmoniously into the existing surroundings and at the same time set new accents in the school landscape of Bern.
Architecture and spatial concept
The architecture of the new extension is characterized by generous window areas, natural materials and an open room design. The learning spaces offer pupils plenty of daylight and a direct connection to the outside world, which promotes well-being and motivation to learn. The internal structure of the building is flexibly designed to support different educational concepts and meet the changing requirements of everyday school life.
Particular attention was paid to the design of the outdoor areas. A variety of play and learning landscapes have been created here, allowing pupils to experience nature and optimally complementing the school's educational concept. The integration of green spaces and natural elements not only creates a high recreational value, but also promotes the pupils' environmental awareness.
Sustainability and environmental awareness
"Emil Grünbär" embodies the idea of sustainability, which runs through the entire design. The use of resource-conserving materials, energy-efficient technologies and an ecologically oriented construction method form the foundation of our concept. By consistently implementing these principles, the building not only meets the requirements of a modern educational facility, but also sets a strong example for environmental protection and sustainable construction.
