An exciting redesign is imminent in the North Frisian coastal town of Horumersiel-Schillig. Wangerland Touristik GmbH (WTG) is planning to create an impressive Thalasso center that will highlight the unique health tourism offerings of the Lower Saxony North Sea. With a holistic approach based on Thalasso therapies, the project promises an active and passive experience of the healing potential of the sea. The architecture and the concept of the thalasso center should reflect the connection with the North Sea and the Wadden Sea World Heritage Site. Let's take a closer look at the plans for this exciting venture.

Visionary designers of the thalasso center

The renowned architects from Deeken-Henke Architects in Esens, led by Wilfried Henke, played a decisive role in the design of the Thalasso Center in Horumersiel. Their goal is to create a sustainable, simple and natural building that offers visitors a unique experience.

The concept presented by Henke attaches great importance to the connection with nature and the North Sea-typical character. The thalassotherapy center is intended to give visitors the path to nature and, through the architecture, to transport them to a world of well-being and relaxation. A clear spatial separation is created between the various areas of the center in order to separate adventure tourism from Thalasso visitors seeking peace and quiet.

Fascinating architecture, inspired by the North Sea An essential part of the redesign is the expansion of the existing spa building with an impressive glass facade on the back. This allows visitors a breathtaking view of the sea and creates a harmonious connection between the interior and exterior space. The building will also have a green roof modeled on a dyke. Here guests will find a relaxing retreat and can fully enjoy the beauty of the sea.

The architects attach great importance to the aesthetic design of the thalasso center. A water wall with sea water running down it will enhance the building from the outside and create a welcoming atmosphere. These innovative elements create an architectural jewel that will attract visitors from all over the world.

The connection with the North Sea

Authenticity and natural remedies A key element of the Thalasso center in Horumersiel is the use of the natural resources of the North Sea. The center will use the local healing agent seawater in combination with natural silt. This unique combination is supplemented by other typical North Sea products such as algae or sea buckthorn to ensure authenticity and naturalness.
