For the “Strobel Höfe” neighborhood development in Munich, Architekten Venus designed a nuanced urban ensemble that integrates existing structures with new residential and commercial uses. The design transforms an inner-city site at Anglerstraße and Heimeranstraße into a vibrant neighborhood with clearly defined courtyards and a strong spatial identity.

The buildings are grouped around several courtyards, which serve as semi-public open spaces offering diverse qualities for spending time. These courtyards form the spatial backbone of the neighborhood and create a clear sequence of public, semi-public, and private areas. Activated ground-floor zones with commercial uses strengthen the connection to the urban space and enliven the neighborhood.

The architectural language draws on the site’s industrial character and translates it into a robust materiality of mineral surfaces, brick, and striking steel structures. Balconies and open circulation elements contribute to the differentiation of the facades and create a lively, multi-layered appearance.

The visualizations focus on the courtyards as the neighborhood’s central spaces. They showcase the interplay of architecture, open space, and use, conveying the atmosphere of an urban neighborhood designed for interaction, density, and diversity.
